Mission Requests

APRIL 2011

Mission Prayer Requests:

Argentina – Ron & Bonnie Gouge - Join with us rejoicing for God’s healing touch on Marcelo. A new medication shipped from the States to Argentina had made a difference in his life. He has been released from the hospital.
Brad and Kristy Weinert will welcome Vilma, their fourth and final resident, to their home this weekend. Praise God for blessing this resident ministry, and pray specifically for Vilma, Luz, Laura, and Valeria as they transition to living with each other and the Weinerts. May the Lord truly be glorified as these young women live for Him and search for part-time jobs in addition to focusing on their studies.
Please pray for us as we continue to travel across the good ol’ USA, visiting friends and loved ones and speaking in churches. It has been wonderful to visit with many of you—thank you for opening your hearts and your homes to us. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Bolivia Andrea Cooper, Please pray for strength and guidance as she begins developing her support team in preparation for her return to Bolivia.

El Salvador – David & Debbie Hawk    Continued prayers for Debbie, as she underwent a partial knee replacement in December.

Haiti  Praise God for progress, and keep praying as the rebuilding continues in Haiti.

Haitian American Field, FL – Sue Martin Pray for guidance to continue to follow His leadership in the days to come.

Hispanic Ministry – Brian & Paula Kushman   Pray for support.

Japan – Dennis & Priscilla Probst & Zach & Ester Motts  The people are still experiencing strong aftershocks, and radiation continues to leak from the nuclear reactors. Recently the crisis level at the nuclear plant was raised to the highest level of 7 on the international scale. We know that God is the only answer to the most important needs of the Japanese people. He alone can give them inner peace and lasting hope in the midst of the ongoing crisis. Please pray for a strong witness for Christ as missionaries, churches, and Christians continue to participate in relief efforts. Praise: All the missionaries in Japan are accounted for and doing fine.
We praise God that Priscilla is doing so much better. She got a good report from her doctor last week, and the recent Remicade infusion treatment went very well with no severe side effects. We know this is in answer to so many prayers for her. This time of medical leave has been good and refreshing for us. We plan to begin traveling again in deputation in mid-May.

Kenya – Wycliffe and Staci Keter & Barbara Pinkley   The Africa Gospel Church Baby Center
Tenwek School of Nursing  Join the staff and students in praising God that the  school was selected as a testing center for the Kenya registration nursing exams. Students at Tenwek will no longer have to be transported to another site but will be able to study and take their exams in a less stressful environment and without additional transportation and accommodation expenses. Praise God for His provisions!
Tenwek School of Nursing welcomed its largest class, 20 students, in late February. Pray for Class 11 as the students adjust to the intense schedule and as they learn to listen to and understand their teachers’ English accents. Pray also that reconstruction on the women’s dorm, to accommodate the extra students, will be completed soon so the women can settle in and focus on their studies. Please pray for Classes 8, 9 and 10...In February, Class 10 started intensive classes. So we have two classrooms in session 7 hours a day 5 days a week. Pray for the students as well as the teachers during these busy days! Please pray for seven of the Class 9 students who left in February for an 8-week Psychiatric clinical rotation in Nairobi. Pray that their lives will reflect Jesus during their time away from us. Your prayers are such an encouragement to them. Class 8 is preparing for comprehensive exams in May 2011. Besides that, some of them are having practical assessments in the clinical areas. Pray that they will be able to stay focused in their studies and not “grow weary”.
Tenwek Hospital Seventeen students whose families minister at Tenwek Hospital need a teacher for the 2011-2012 school year. Pray for the Lord’s provision of this need

Larry Carr shared that 18 people have died from dengue this year and more than 20,000 people have been infected and 18,000 hospitalized. All the national hospitals are full, and elective surgeries are being suspended to free up beds. Pray that the Lord will bring healing to those infected and that those who have lost loved ones will look to Him for true comfort and peace.

Josh and Kelly Hallahan Our work permits are still being processed. We still need .9% of our budget raised. That equals $62/month. Praying that God provides that remaining support and that we hear news that the permits were approved this week!
